Æon is a simply structured electro-house track, using complex synthesis sounds coming mainly from two custom G2X modular patches. A nice blend of chill in the back and punch in the front sharing sound elements with Voyager 1. This track was first released for the Sound of SceneSat Vol. 2 compilation. Thanks to Ziphoid of SceneSat Radio for inviting me again !
Oh and… you may here soon a new remix of this track soon… and not from me !
This downtempo track was my contribution to the “Sound Of SceneSat Volume 1” compilation from SceneSat Radio. This track was inspired by the classical ambient dub tracks I love and used to listen a lot in the 90s. With the time it became one of my favourites. Most of the sound sources are hardware, the G2X providing the background noise and ambiance, the Virus for the CS80’ish sound, pads from the Wavestation, arpeggios from the DX11 (still can get usefull stuff out of this one too), even a little guitar in the break. Sometimes everything just fall right into place, making a perfect blend out of simplicity.
This track was released on Eyezcream label and had a really good exposure, played by the biggest DJs in the world (Tiesto Club Life 101, Corsten Countdown 86, Armin Van Buuren) and is available on Beatport and on Marco G compilations.
If only one remix had to be made, it was this one. I watched the original 1993 Amiga demo countless times and always wanted to remix it. Here is my dream remix of the full demo. I must say that I’m pretty proud of this one, it was a lot of work.
Don’t get it wrong! this is is meant to be sequenced exactly like the original. If you wanted to get those missing 8 least significant bits (LSBs) to get the full 16 thing and to make it sound the way you may think it was, here it is!. Trying to identify the exact original sample and do it exactly like the old one without loosing all the 8 bit and clipping character is the key… Go check the original for a little comparison!
Hope you’ll enjoy this classic remake.
Once again in 2012 the Hackfest Crew were kind enough to invite me again as a DJ for their November event. I really appreciate this event for different reasons, first I’m an IT security specialist by day so this my community, these are the friends and people I work with. Next, because hacking games and demoscene events (two interest that I hope you realized I have) are having a lot in common. Finally because those guys and gals simply enjoy the same music that I do.
They are always giving me “carte blanche” and this year I performed different DJ Sets : I began nicely with Liquid Dubstep, followed by Electro House, PsyTrance music, and rounded up everything with a nice downtempo set. In between, I decided this year to bring my computer, NI Maschine, the Virus and the G2X to perform about 1 hour of my music live. A couple of new tracks were made exclusively for this, even the Hackfest Intro theme was a Maschine remix project prepared for this occasion.
After a little leave I’m be back with a new show and new releases ! Let’s not start this spring in a rush and enjoy a nice downtempo saturday instead ! Tune in on SceneSat
